This poster advertising “The Walking
Dead” season three. On the front of this poster is the main character, Rick
Grimes. By the looks of it, this man is aiming, almost as if he was going to
shoot someone. Also judging by what he is wearing, he may seem like a part of
the police service because he’s wearing a formal trousers and a brown shirt.
Also you can tell that he is part of the police service because he has a gun
sheath hanging off of his trousers. It’s because people would think of this as
a heroic figure and that’s why people would watch it. It’s also the fact that
if you break down the slogan above the title, The Walking Dead, “Fight the
Dead, Fear the Living.” From this you can infer that this person is fighting
zombies because in movies and other TV shows they are portrayed as “dead” or
“infected,” which is why you would think that the “dead” are zombies.
INSTITUTION
From this poster you can see that the channel that is producing this TV show is an American programme, “AMC,” and you can tell because under the central image, there is the season’s return date and next to that, the AMC logo. AMC first aired The Walking Dead in 2010 and it is so successful that it’s returning with their fifth season, however, this is not the advertisement for it.

AUDIENCE:
The audience for The Walking Dead
probably from ages 18-28 due to graphic content in the series’. Also I think
the audience gender wise is %75 male and %25 female because most zombie films
are in the horror category and I think that there would be more males than
females that would want to watch that horror film, which is why they are the
target audience.
REPRESENTATION:
If you take a look at the poster, you
will see that the man/central image is a part of the authority where he’s from because
you can tell by his clothes. This makes him heroic because he a part of the
authority. This represents the stereotype that all sheriffs are heroes because
in all of the western cowboy films the sheriff always catches the bad guy,
which is why the main character in The Walking Dead is a cowboy.
