Applying Theory's:

Todorov: Equilibrium

The 3 part structure to the trailer of my chosen film is: Christoph Waltz saves Jamie Fox from a slave owner and kills them, Christoph Waltz and Jamie Fox hunt for Jamie Fox's wife by searching every cotton plantation. They find his wife but, in an unfortunate turn of events, Christoph Waltz ends up getting shot dead, restoring the balance to the equilibrium.

Propp: Character types

The character types shown in the trailer are: main protagonist (Jamie Fox) who theatres Django, the person who rescues Django and helps him rescue his wife from the mentor/Helper/donor

(Christoph Waltz), Villain/Antagonist (Leonardo DiCaprio) and a heroine (Jamie Fox's "wife")

Barthes: Enigma code

The enigmas that could be thought of are: Does Django get his wife back? Does he or Christoph Waltz die? These questions could intrigue the audience and make them want to watch this film.

Barthes: Action code

Action codes in this trailer are: when blood splatters all over the cotton, the audience could be thinking who dies, and did he make the shot. Another action code is when the pair are riding to get to a plantation. The audience may be thinking where are they going, do they make it there.
